01_PROJECT SCOPE

An oil and gas client required a wellbore restriction clean-up tool designed from scratch for downhole deployment. MeoMech took full mechanical ownership, designing a spring-loaded scraper system, selecting materials suited to extreme subsurface conditions, and sourcing all precision-machined components through our established manufacturing network. The tool had zero tolerance for failure.

Industry Context

Wellbore integrity remains a priority across global drilling operations. As operators push into deeper, more challenging reservoirs, the demand for reliable, precisely engineered downhole tooling that performs under extreme pressure and temperature continues to accelerate across onshore and offshore programmes.

"Downhole tooling leaves no room for rework. Once it goes below surface, the engineering either performs or it doesn't."

02_THE ENGINEERING CHALLENGE

Thousands of feet below the surface, there is no maintenance access. The spring-loaded blade mechanism needed precise travel and consistent contact force against the wellbore wall across varying diameters. Pressure, temperature, and corrosive conditions dictated material decisions, balancing hardness and corrosion resistance while maintaining machinability to strict tolerances.

03_HOW WE SOLVED IT

Material selection was driven by what the well environment would do to each component over time. The blade geometry was optimised to maintain a reliable scraping pressure regardless of variations in wellbore diameter. All precision-machined parts were sourced through our vetted supplier network, inspected, and delivered ready for assembly.

04_WHAT THE CLIENT RECEIVED

A production-ready downhole scraper tool with every machined component sourced and delivered through MeoMech. The tool is now in active field use, deployed by some of the biggest operators in the oil and gas industry on an ongoing basis.
