01_PROJECT SCOPE

The U.S. military required a rugged handheld device designed from scratch for sustained frontline deployment in extreme environments. MeoMech was engaged to take full mechanical ownership, from blank sheet concept through to establishing the supply chain and delivering production parts. The programme operated under strict confidentiality requirements with no margin for delay or design rework.

Industry Context

Military operations demand handheld equipment that works reliably in extreme conditions, every time. As field environments grow harsher and procurement cycles tighten, the requirement for rapidly designed, production-ready hardware that can withstand sustained operational use is increasing across defence programmes.

DEFENCE SECTOR CAPABILITY
  • Tactical EnclosuresDurable housings for field-deployed electronics and communications equipment.
  • Vehicle-Mounted SystemsMechanical assemblies for land vehicle integration and mounting solutions.
  • Portable Field EquipmentHandheld and man-portable devices engineered for harsh environment deployment.
  • Weapons System ComponentsPrecision mechanical parts for defence platforms requiring strict compliance.
  • Surveillance HardwareStructural and mechanical design for observation and monitoring systems.
"Designing for frontline use, every mechanical decision carries weight. The fact we still supply these parts today speaks for itself."

02_THE ENGINEERING CHALLENGE

The device had to survive temperature extremes, repeated impact, and long-term field exposure while remaining light enough for prolonged carry. Glove-compatible controls and intuitive operation under pressure were non-negotiable. Every component also needed to be manufacturable at volume without compromising the tolerances that keep it operational.

03_HOW WE SOLVED IT

Material choices were led by weight performance and environmental resilience. The mechanical design was built around how each part would be made, not just how it needed to perform. We then sourced, qualified, and now manage a dedicated manufacturing network that delivers inspected parts direct to the client.

04_WHAT THE CLIENT RECEIVED

A production-ready handheld device with every mechanical component sourced and delivered through MeoMech. What started as a single programme is now a recurring supply relationship. We continue to manufacture and ship parts on an ongoing basis.
